DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 11, 2019) - ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½'s Spelling Bee Team brought home its 6th championship in the annual Volusia County Literacy Council's Annual Charity Spelling Bee.image of winning spelling bee team members: Jeff Ferguson, Ben Graydon, Frank Gunshanan (team member and captain), Maggie Karda, Sally MacGee, Susan Ortiz, Rachel Owens, and Augusta Thomas.

ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ students and faculty, led by team captain Frank Gunshanan, School of Humanities and Communication professor, competed against 19 teams which included Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Bethune-Cookman University, Kaiser University, The International Speedway Corporation, Halifax Health, Brown & Brown Insurance, FPL, Lourdes Academy, and Volusia United Educators, among others.

In the final round against Embry-Riddle, the team and team speaker, Augusta Thomas, prevailed with the word "contumacious."
