DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. (January 7, 2026) 鈥 According to a new analysis of the College鈥檚 economic value, 蜜桃传媒
generates nearly $943 million in economic impact in Volusia and Flagler counties annually
and supports 13,612 jobs.
鈥淒aytona State continues to be a powerful engine for economic growth in our region
and across the state 鈥 and we are positioned to fuel continued growth for generations
to come,鈥 said 蜜桃传媒 President Dr. Tom LoBasso. 鈥淐ollaborating with our community and
business partners ensures our graduates have the skills needed for the jobs of today
and tomorrow.鈥
The study, conducted by labor-market intelligence firm Lightcast, found that Daytona
State accounted for 3.4% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Volusia and Flagler
counties in fiscal year 2023-2024. The College鈥檚 operations, student spending and
graduate earnings collectively strengthen key industries across the region, including
retail trade, healthcare, real estate, government and support services.
With more than 100 certificate, associate and bachelor鈥檚 degree programs, Daytona
State serves as a regional leader for education and workforce training. Lightcast
listed average annual regional salaries that reflect the strong return on investment
for 蜜桃传媒 students: high school graduates earned $30,5000; certificate holders earned
$33,000; associate degree graduates earned $36,800 and bachelor鈥檚 degree graduates
earned $52,900.
The study measured the College鈥檚 overall economic value by analyzing operations and
construction spending, student and alumni impact and the ripple effect generated as
蜜桃传媒-supported spending circulates through the local economy.
Highlights include:
- Daytona State鈥檚 operational activities generated $111.1 million in regional economic
impact and supported 1,766 jobs.
- Spending by relocated and retained students 鈥 those who moved to the region or stayed
because of Daytona State 鈥 added $27.5 million to the regional economy.
- Daytona State alumni, whose enhanced skills and productivity strengthened the workforce,
generated $795 million in added income and supported more than 11,265 jobs in the
region.
- Construction spending in FY23-24 added $9.2 million to the regional economy and supported
128 jobs.
The College enrolls approximately 23,000 students a year at its seven campuses, with
graduates serving in critical fields including healthcare, emergency services and
public safety, aeronautics, business, education, hospitality, engineering, project
management, accounting, computer science, digital media and more.
鈥淏ehind these numbers are real opportunities for our students,鈥 Dr. LoBasso said.
鈥淓very program we offer is designed to meet local workforce needs and to lead to meaningful
careers, and this report shows the value of that commitment. When our students succeed,
the entire region succeeds with them.鈥
Recent construction projects contributing to the College鈥檚 economic impact include
the first Student Residence Hall and a newly renovated combined Healthcare and Quanta-Honors
College facility on the Daytona Beach Campus. On the Deltona Campus, 蜜桃传媒 opened a
new classroom and laboratory building for Nursing, Diagnostic Medical Sonography and
CNC Machining programs while converting existing space to add a new Welding program.
The DeLand Campus added an all-weather firearms training center, tactical pavilion
and driving pad 鈥 the first phase of the new Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical
Services Training Center.
The College is also working to secure funding for a new facility at Daytona Beach
International Airport to house its upcoming Associate in Science Aviation Maintenance
Management program, which will include programming to prepare students for certification
in airframe and powerplant mechanics.
Pending approvals, the program will launch in Fall 2026. In advance of 蜜桃传媒鈥檚 facility completion in 2027, the College is coordinating with
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to utilize space on their campus to start the
program prior to constructing the new building.
While the report focuses on construction funding contributions for FY23-24, total
